Bobbe has been working in the field of Chemical Dependency since 1988, and she has worked with Problem and Compulsive gamblers since being Certified by the Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling, Inc. in 1996 and Nationally Certified in 1999. Beginning her career at the Hazelden Foundation, Bobbe moved to Phoenix as Senior Counselor at Progress Valley, IV, and then went on to became the Addictions Program Director at Charter Hospital, and Program Manager for Trimeridian, Inc.
Bobbe was awarded the first contract to work with gamblers and affected persons in Arizona. Bobbe also held a contract with the Office of Problem Gambling for seven years to train all levels of professionals to work with gamblers and affected persons, reaching every zip code in Arizona. Bobbe has recognized and treated clients suffering from addiction to alcohol and drugs for 32 years and recognized gambling as affecting the sobriety of many and continues to assist clients in processing co-occuring disorders.

Maria earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Argosy University and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University. Maria is licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor. She is trained in E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is an evidence based therapeutic modality which helps individuals to process adult and childhood traumas. Maria offers directive, insight-oriented therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups recovering from painful life history and current difficulties, such as trauma and abuse; depression and anxiety; intimacy and connection; addictive behaviors and effects caused by others’ addictive behaviors; shame and guilt; grief and loss; and individuals who feel ‘stuck’ in old ways of thinking and behaving. She especially enjoys providing specialized therapy toward healing and restructuring to post-substance-abuse-treatment couples and families. In offering a safe, nurturing, therapeutic environment, Maria receives satisfaction in her work through witnessing her patients’ growth and personal empowerment. Maria was raised in Japan for most of her childhood and speaks fluent Japanese.
