About ACT Counseling & Education
An alcohol addiction, gambling addiction, or drug addiction is a way that people attempt to fill the emptiness they feel inside of themselves. It’s a natural human reaction to seek a way to make those feelings go away. What can begin as a way to find relief can soon turn into a full-blown addiction that takes over your life and negatively affects your marriage, family, job and relationships.
At ACT Counseling & Education Services, my mission is to counsel and educate the clients and the community with respect and compassion. Distress and addiction affects the entire family system. I provide help and specialized treatment to assist the healing of the addicted person and the family. My approach allows the client to challenge beliefs and values that may be blocking the achievement of a balanced life.

Bobbe McGinley, Founder
MA, MBA, LISAC, NCGC II, ICRC, BACC, SAP Substance Abuse Professional
Let me introduce myself... I have been working in the field of Chemical Dependency since 1988, and have worked with Problem and Compulsive gamblers since being certified by the Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling (ACCG) in 1996 and nationally certified in 1999. Beginning my career at the Hazelden Foundation, I moved to Phoenix as Senior Counselor at Progress Valley, IV, and then went on to become the Addictions Program Director at Charter Hospital, and Program Manager for Trimeridian, Inc.
I was awarded the first contract to work with gamblers and affected persons in Arizona. I also held a contract with the Office of Problem Gambling for seven years to train all levels of professionals to work with gamblers and affected persons, reaching every zip code in Arizona. I have recognized and treated clients suffering from addiction to alcohol and drugs for 36 years and recognized gambling as affecting the sobriety of many and continues to assist clients in processing co-occuring disorders. I have been treating individuals with gambling problems/addition for 27 years.
I now work in private practice as CEO, Counselor, Consultant and Trainer at ACT - Counseling & Education.
